Victoria set to battle New Westminster in the WLA Semi-Finals
Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks will meet the New Westminster Salmonbellies in the 2014 Western Lacrosse Association semi-finals, starting on Wednesday, August 6 at 100.3 The Q Centre.
The Shamrocks will finish the regular season in first place for the first time since 2009. The Green & White began the season with a 10-game undefeated streak, securing the league’s top seed on July 16 with a road win in Langley. The Salmonbellies won their way to the playoffs with a victory over the Coquitlam Adanacs on Sunday night, securing the fourth and final spot.
The Shamrocks and Salmonbellies last faced off in the post-season in 2006. That year, Victoria advanced past Coquitlam and New West past Burnaby to meet in the second round. The Shamrocks went on to win the best-of-seven series in five games.
