Burrards Knock Off Shamrocks to Even WLA Finals 1-1

The Victoria Shamrocks suffered their first defeat of the 2019 playoffs as the Burrards knocked off the Shamrocks 10-7 on Sunday night to pull even in the best of 7 WLA Championship series.  The scene shifts back to Victoria for game 3 on Tuesday night at 6:30 pm.

Powerplay opportunities were 8-4 for the Burrards including a long 5 on 3. In total, the Shamrocks had 10 minor penalties in the first 2 periods including 3 in a row to start the 2nd when they held a 3-2 lead. The officiating tonight was in stark contrast to game one when only 6 powerplay opportunities were had by both teams, 3 each.

Ben Macintosh was the star of the night for the Burrards, especially in the middle of the contest.  With the Shamrocks leading 3-1, Macintosh would go on to score the games next 4 goals and the Burrards wouldn't look back.

Jesse King and Tyler Gibson each had a pair for the Shamrocks, while Tyler Pace, Chris Boushy, and Steve Priolo added singles.  Peter Dubenski turned aside 40 of the 50 shots the Burrards threw his way on the night.  Frank Scigliano has a relatively quiet night as he was forced to make just 29 saves on the 36 shots the Shamrocks had.

Tickets for game three are available beginning tomorrow morning at 9:00 am at the Q Centre box office, or online at www.victoriashamrocks.com
