Victoria, BC – It’s going to be a showdown at The Q Centre on tonight between the Victoria Shamrocks and the Maple Ridge Burrards in Game #3 of the WLA Finals. With the Burrards 9-8 win in Game #2 on Sunday. The series is currently tied 1-1 entering the evening. Each team will be looking to seize the advantage over the other by winning tonight’s game.

There can’t be much said about Burrards forward Curtis Dickson that hasn’t been said already. The star for this Maple Ridge team, Dickson has been a threat to score all season, with this postseason being his bread and butter. He’s had more games WITH a hat-trick in the playoffs than without one. Through 6 playoff games, Dickson has had 4 games with at least 3 goals or more. As a result of the impressive scoring totals, Dickson leads the league in playoff goals with 18 coming into tonight’s game.

Some of Dickson’s teammates came to life on Sunday with no one bigger than Jean-Luc Chetner. Chetner scored 3 goals on Sunday which was the first time he’s scored 3 goals in a game since June 24th against Langley. Sunday was a solid night for Maple Ridge forward Ben McIntosh, who had a goal and two assists for the Burrards. If Maple Ridge wants to continue their success from Game #2, they need to get multiple guys involved in scoring for the team to get past Victoria.

For the Shamrocks, this is a chance to bounce back after their disappointing loss on Sunday. The Shamrocks had been on a roll, winning 5 straight games, before losing Sunday to the Burrards. The go-to guy for the ‘Rocks lately has been Rob Hellyer, who currently leads the WLA with 33 points so far in the postseason. He had 3 goals and 4 assists for Victoria Sunday which was his second hat-trick in the playoffs.

The player with the most to gain from tonight’s game has to be Shamrocks goalie Adam Shute. While Shute has been everything except a disappointment in the postseason, there is a greater expectation for a better result than the one we saw on Sunday. That was Shute’s first loss as a starter since August 1 and he, like the rest of the Shamrocks, will have revenge on the mind as they play hosts to the Burrards tonight.
