In competitive sports, there is nothing like Game Seven. Game Seven is where legends are born, and where the boys are separated from the men. While the Victoria Shamrocks were not hoping for this series to reach a seventh game, the table is set for what should be a thrilling contest. After the Shamrocks won the first three games of the series, the Lakers roared right back to take the next three. The winner of Sunday night’s game will play the Maple Ridge Burrards for a chance to play in Ontario for the Mann Cup.

Game Six saw the return of Cory Conway to the Shamrocks lineup. His presence was felt early as he helped jump-start the Shamrocks offence. He finished with a goal and six assists. Halfway through the third period, the back-and-forth game had reached an 11-11 score. The Lakers pulled ahead on goals from Josh Byrne and Robert Church, which was enough to secure the 13-11 victory.  Rhys Duch continued his dominance in the postseason, scoring four goals with three assists to bring his point total to 35. Adam Shute started in net once again for the Shamrocks and made 27 saves on 41 shots.

After having three chances to put away the Lakers, the Shamrocks are now in a do-or-die situation. Win and they are through to the WLA finals. Lose and their season is done. Consider the strong veteran core, many of the Shamrocks players have been in similar situations before. The Lakers have proven to be a worthy opponent, and it will take a full team effort to get past them.

Burnaby Lakers Scouting Report

Since returning to his position as starting goaltender, Zak Boychuk has been on fire in net for the Lakers. In Game Five, he made 48 saves on 54 shots and 38 saves on 50 shots in Game 6. He and the Lakers defense have been huge reasons for the comeback in this series.

It has been the usual suspects of the Lakers who have put up the impressive offensive numbers. In the last two games, Robert Church and Scott Jones both have 10 points. Josh Byrne has also been lethal for the Lakers, with a hat trick in Game 6, and two goals the game before. The Lakers are usually known as a strong defensive team, but have found their stride on the offensive side of the ball as well. This makes the Shamrocks job in Game Seven just that much harder.
