Game Preview - Shamrocks Home Opener

GAME PREVIEW: Victoria Shamrocks vs. Coquitlam Adanacs

Tonight, an expected standing room only crowd will get an answer to the question of what happens when an unstoppable force in Victoria’s offence meets an immovable object in Coquitlam’s goaltender Christian Del Bianco in the 2026 Shamrocks Home Opener presented by Four Peaks Power.

It’s opening night at The Q Centre, and the Victoria Shamrocks couldn’t have drawn a more compelling opponent to kick things off. The Coquitlam Adanacs, who lost just twice all of last season and went all the way to the WLA Final before bowing out to New Westminster, roll into Colwood with arguably the most dangerous goaltender in the game between their pipes. Del Bianco was the backbone of Coquitlam’s remarkable turnaround, and he’ll look to play spoiler again tonight in what promises to be one of the most watched first games of the WLA season in recent memory.

For the Shamrocks, the mission starts right from the first whistle. Victoria made a calculated move this off-season by acquiring faceoff specialist Tyrell Hamer-Jackson in a trade with the Langley Thunder, and his presence in the lineup tonight is about more than just winning the draw, it’s about controlling the tempo of the game entirely. Against a team as dangerous in transition as Coquitlam, possession isn’t just important, it’s everything. The more the ball stays in Victoria’s hands, the fewer opportunities the Adanacs get to build the kind of sustained offensive pressure that can rattle a team early in the season.

On the other end of the floor, Victoria’s attack is loaded. Under new captain Marshal King the Shamrocks have no shortage of weapons. King has been one of the most productive players in the organization’s recent history and along with alternate captain Cole Pickup up front, and Dallas Wade wearing the ‘A’ on defence, this group gives head coach Bruce Alexander enormous flexibility in how he rolls his lines. If there’s a night for this offence to announce itself against the WLA’s best goaltender, it’s tonight in front of a home crowd that will be rocking from first faceoff.

And this crowd? It’ll be something special. The atmosphere at a standing room only Q Centre is unlike anything else: every goal reverberating off the walls, the speed and physicality of the game hitting different when you’re that close to the action. If you’ve never seen lacrosse live, there is simply no better introduction than a home opener in Colwood.

Best of all, coming to the game tonight couldn’t be easier. Parking at The Q Centre is free, and thanks to Maxxam Insurance, youth tickets are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Grab a cold one, $6 beers are available inside, find your seat, and get ready for two hours of everything that makes this sport great.
