Salmonbellies Play Spoiler On Fan Appreciation Night
Victoria, BC ~ The New Westminster Salmonbellies held the Victoria Shamrocks to no offense in the third period on Friday night to win 12-8 on the 'Rocks Fan Appreciation night with over 2,700 fans in attendance at the Q Centre in Colwood.
New West's well-rounded offensive output included two-goal performances from Mitch Jones, Curtis Dickson, Tye Kurtz, and Jeff Cornwall.
Victoria trailed 4-3 after twenty minutes before the two teams exchanged five markers in the second to have a 9-8 'Bellies scoreline after the second.
The visitors refused to allow the Shamrocks to get their offense going in the third period and added three of their own for insult to injury, closing the game out at 12-8.
There was some obvious frustration from the home side near the end of the game, including four five-minute majors handed out between Elijah Gash and Patrick Kaschalk. Their offense came mostly from Andrew Kew, Zach Manns, and Kyle Pepper, who all chipped in with two goals. Clarke Petterson and Cole Pickup had the two others.
Chris Origlieri made 44 saves on 56 shots for Victoria while Frank Scigliano stopped 37 of the 45 attempts he faced to pick up the win.
Victoria is back in action on Tuesday night to begin their final two road games, closing out their season in first Burnaby and than Coquitlam on Saturday night.
