Shamrocks Add Goaltending Depth in Advance of Home Stretch
The Victoria Shamrocks announced today that they have acquired the playing rights to veteran goaltender Frank Scigliano for the remainder of the 2026 season from the Langley Thunder in exchange for a first round draft pick in 2030 and future considerations.
Scigliano has been one of the top goaltenders, not just in the WLA but in lacrosse in general, for the last several years. He has made four Mann Cup appearances and is still looking for his first championship ring, coming very close last year with the New Westminster Salmonbellies. He was the NLL Goaltender of the Year in 2025 with the Saskatchewan Rush.
“We wanted to give ourselves some insurance in an extremely important position,” said Shamrocks General Manager Chris Welch. “Frankie comes in hungry to win and is willing to do whatever it takes and we’re excited to add him to our group.”
In addition to Scigliano, the Shamrocks have acquired the playing rights to Silas Richmond from the Burnaby Lakers for the remainder of the 2026 season; Richmond is currently playing in the Premier Lacrosse League and won’t be available to the team for the regular season or playoffs, but could be available if the Shamrocks advance to the Mann Cup.
The Shamrocks are back from an extended road swing and play their next several games at home, starting this Friday against the New Westminster Salmonbellies, face off at 6:30pm; tickets are still available at VictoriaShamrocks.com.
