Shamrocks Back To Winning Ways On Father's Day

Victoria, BC ~ The Victoria Shamrocks used some "Dad Power" on Sunday evening to get themselves back in the win column with a 12-7 victory over the Nanaimo Timbermen in front of 2,232 fans at the Q Centre in Colwood.
Victoria lead 2-0 after seven minutes of the game thanks to goals from Zach Manns and Patrick Dodds but a Nanaimo five minute power play would allow them to cut that lead in half with a man advantage goal at 10:22 (Luke Pilcher). Shortly after the five minute major to Victoria's Ari Stevens ended (boarding) the Timbermen tied the game up of the stick of Mason Pynn.
The two squads exchanged goals in the final five minutes to have the game tied at three after 20. Marshal King was the scorer for Victoria while Ryan Sheridan was the man for Nanaimo.
In the second period, Victoria outscored Nanaimo 4-2 thanks to; Patrick Dodds, Zach Manns, Andrew Kew and Marshal King all etching their name into the scoresheet. On the other end of the floor Brenden Doyle and Ryan Sheridan scored to have the visitors trailing 7-5 after 40 minutes.
The 'Rocks pulled away in the third period, getting four unanswered goals (seven in total from the second period) in the first 5:23 of the final frame to be up 11-5. Patrick dodds, Cole Pickup, Zach Manns and Andrew Kew were the men to put them up by six.
Nanaimo got one back at 6:19 from Tyson Nielsen but Marshal King's hat-trick goal for Victoria came on the powerplay at 10:08 to restore a six goal advantage. Mason Pynn got the visitors their seventh goal at 14:08 but that was as close as they would come with the Shamrocks steering the game home from there.
After a tie on home floor to Maple Ridge and then a loss on the road Thursday night to New West, it was a much needed win for the Shamrocks who improve to 5-1-1 on the season. They are back in action at home on Friday night to the also 5-1-1 Coquitlam Adanacs.
