Shamrocks Knock off Salmonbellies to Move into First

The Victoria Shamrocks came from behind in the 3rd period to defeat the New Westminster Salmonbelies 6-5 on Friday night in front of more than 2400 fans at the Q Centre.  The big win moved the Shamrocks record to 8-1-1 and moved them into first place in the WLA standings.

The Shamrocks got off to a picture perfect start as they jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the 1st period thanks to goals from Brodie Wade, Tyler Burton,  Jesse King and Mathieu Gauthier.  For King, it was his first of the season as he returned to the line-up for the first time in 2025.

The four goal lead was short-lived however as New West would rattle off 5 straight goals to take a 5-4 lead into the 3rd period.

The Shamrocks got 3rd period goals from Patrick Dodds and Zach Manns to take the lead before hanging on down the stretch for the win.

For New West, the loss was their 2nd consecutive after starting the season 8-0.

Up next for the Shamrocks is a mid-week tilt on Wednesday against their island rivals from Nanaimo.  You can buy tickets online by CLICKING HERE
