Shamrocks On The Brink After Game Three Loss

New Westminster, BC ~ The New Westminster Salmonbellies staged a furious comeback to ultimately take down the Victoria Shamrocks 11-7 in overtime on Tuesday night at Queen's Park Arena in New Westminster.


The 'Bellies lead 4-2 after twenty minutes but Victoria played a fabulous second period and outscored their hosts 4-0 to lead 6-4 after two periods of play.


Things continued to look bright when the got the first goal of the third period to lead 7-4, but the home side would not be so easily put away. 


They got a goal just before the seven minute mark to make the game close but it was in the last minute that they really changed the game. Mitch Jones scored at 19:09 to make it a one goal game and than again it was Jones finding the back of the net at 19:49 to tie the game in dramatic fashion and send game three to overtime.


The Salmonbellies got all four goals in overtime to close the game out and take a 2-1 series lead in this best of five first round WLA matchup.


Victoria's markers came from Andrew Kew (3), Kyle Pepper, Marshal King, Jesse King and Zach Manns while Cam Dunkerley made 55 saves in the 'Rocks crease.


The series turns to Victoria where they will look to keep their series alive in the most formidable place to play in Canadian lacrosse with their Q Centre they call home being a true home field advantage.
