Victory for Victoria over Langley
July 6, 2018
It was another successful night for the Shamrocks. They came out on top 13-11 in a high stakes game against the stingy Langley Thunder. The Shamrocks came in tonight with a clear mind after losing their previous game to the Coquitlam Adanacs last Saturday. Friday was a new game and the Rocks made sure the focus was solely on Langley.
After a strong first period, the Shamrocks found themselves with a 5-2 lead. The second was a bit shaky as the Thunder outscored the ‘Rocks 5-4 in the period and trailed Victoria by only two goals. The score was indicative of the how competitive the game was - with the Shamrocks ahead 9-7 after 40 minutes. The ‘Rocks got big contributions from Jesse King and Casey Jackson with each man putting up 3 goals and 4 assists. However, the biggest goal of the game might have come from first year Shamrock Zac Christianson.
Christianson picked a perfect time to score his first career WLA goal and it proved to be the game-winning goal. Christianson put one in the back of the net with a little over 7 minutes left in the 3rd period on a fastbreak to give the Shamrocks a 12-8 lead. The Shamrocks defense held on for long enough late in the game to get the much-needed victory over the Thunder.
The Shamrocks play Sunday night at Cam Neely Arena taking on the Maple Ridge Burrards and will play on July 13th in Burnaby before coming back home for a July 20th matchup against the Burrards. Game time for July 20th against Maple Ridge is 7:30pm and doors open at 6:30pm!
