Clarke Petterson Signs with Shamrocks in 2024

The Victoria Shamrocks are excited to announce the acquisition of Clarke Petterson for the upcoming 2024 Western Lacrosse Association season on an interprovincial transfer from the Brampton Excelsiors.

Petterson, a 26 year-old native of Etobicoke, Ontario, is coming off a very successful 2023-24 National Lacrosse League season with the Halifax Thunderbirds in which he finished 10th in league scoring with 40 goals and 64 assists for 104 points in 18 games. It was his fourth season in the NLL, all with Halifax, and for the second straight year he was the Thunderbirds’ leading scorer.

“This is a major addition to our group,” said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch. “Clarke is an elite talent who will make our offense much more difficult to defend against. He’s a brilliant playmaker and a threat to score every time he has the ball in his stick.”

With Petterson on one side of the floor and Jesse King on the other, the Shamrocks attack will be balanced with two of the top 10 scorers in the NLL.

Due to prior commitments in Halifax, Petterson won’t make his Shamrocks debut until mid June. The Shamrocks were aware of that but felt it would be worth the wait.

When asked for his thoughts about his new team, Petterson said, “I couldn’t be more excited to join one of the most historic teams in Canadian lacrosse history. We have a great roster and I look forward to joining and competing with the guys this summer with the goal of winning a Mann Cup.”
