Shamrocks Acquire Adam Jay in Trade with Nanaimo

The Victoria Shamrocks are pleased to announce the acquisition of Adam Jay in a trade with the Nanaimo Timbermen. In return for the 28-year-old Victoria native, the Shamrocks sent a first-round pick in the 2026 Western Lacrosse Association Draft and future considerations to their Island rivals.

Jay, a 6’3”, 210-pound right-handed defender, was originally drafted by the Timbermen in 2017 and spent four seasons with the mid-Island club before heading east where he played with the Oakville Rock in the Ontario Senior B league last year. A few weeks ago, he completed his 5th season in the National Lacrosse League as a member of the Saskatchewan Rush following four seasons with the Toronto Rock.

“Adam brings size and a strong veteran presence to our young back end,” said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch. “Those were two areas we felt we needed to address. It’s exciting to give him the opportunity to play for his hometown team and we know he’s going to be a great fit with our group.”

Responding to the news of the trade, Jay had this to say, “I’m just happy to finally be home and to compete for a Mann Cup. It’s a dream come true.”

The Shamrocks open the 2024 season at home on May 24th at 6:45pm against the Langley Thunder.
