Shamrocks Acquire Nate Wade in Nanaimo Trade

The Victoria Shamrocks are excited to announce we have acquired 2024 WLA All-Star Nate Wade in a trade with our Vancouver Island rivals the Nanaimo Timbermen.

Wade, a 6’ 2”, 220lb right-handed defender was drafted second overall in the 2017 draft by Nanaimo, where he went on to play through the 2024 season. He was named as Captain of the team prior to the 2022 season.

In exchange, the Timbermen will acquire the playing rights to Liam Phillips and Jack Bowie, as well as future considerations.

"We're excited to finally bring Nate home to Victoria. It's tough to see Liam and Jack go, but it's the price we had to pay in order to address important needs going forward.,” said Shamrocks GM Chris Welch in a statement. “We thank them both and wish them all the best. Adding Nate to our mix checks a lot of boxes for us, he's a big, tough defender and a veteran leader whose presence will help show our team the way and help keep our opponents honest."

The Victoria Shamrocks will begin their 2025 campaign at home on Friday, May 23rd at 6:45pm against Maple Ridge. Season tickets are still on sale at VictoriaShamrocks.com or via the team store on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 7pm.

Tickets are also still available for the Shamrocks 75th Anniversary Dinner Celebration on Friday, April 11th - for tickets and more details visit VictoriaShamrocks.com.
