Victoria, BC - The Victoria Shamrocks are pleased to announce that the Commissioner of the Western Lacrosse Association has approved a trade between the Shamrocks and the New Westminster Salmonbellies, sending the Shamrocks' 2016 4th Round Draft Pick to the 'Bellies in exchange for the rights to veteran goaltender Matt Roik.

Roik, 35, is a 6’ 5”, 225 lb. goaltender with championship experience – having won a Minto Cup Championship with Burnaby in 2000, and long-term Shamrocks fans will remember his tenure in green and white from 2001 – 2003, including a Mann Cup Championship with the club in 2003.

“Matt is a proven veteran with a wealth of experience,” said General Manager Chris Welch. “We’ve added depth in a key position that needed shoring up. He’s played here before, and he’s a good fit with our current system.”

With 13 years in the National Lacrosse League, and 12 seasons in Senior lacrosse in Canada, Roik gives the Shamrocks another option between the pipes as they look to start their 2015 championship campaign.
