menuShamrocks Announce 2024 Goaltending Tandem
The Victoria Shamrocks are excited to announce their goaltending tandem for the upcoming 2024 Western Lacrosse Association season that features two of the best young goaltenders in all of lacrosse.
Making his return to the club following a very successful debut season last year is Cam Dunkerley. The 24-year-old native of Caledon, Ontario was among the league leaders in all goaltending categories in 2023 and earned the Shamrocks team award for Most Valuable Player. He is currently the starting goaltender for the New York Riptide of the National Lacrosse League. Dunkerley joins the Shamrocks on a transfer agreement with the Brampton Excelsiors of Major Series Lacrosse in Ontario.
Joining the Shamrocks in 2024 is Chris Origlieri, the current starting goaltender for the San Diego Seals in the NLL who is having a standout season. The 21-year-old hails from just down the road from Dunkerley in Orangeville, Ontario where he enjoyed an outstanding season in 2023 with his hometown Orangeville Northmen. He raked in multiple individual awards including the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League’s Most Valuable Player, Most Outstanding Player and Most Valuable Goalie and he played a lead role in the Northmen’s perfect 20-0 regular season, starting 19 of those games. Origlieri joins the Shamrocks on a transfer agreement with the Owen Sound North Stars of the MSL.
"Having Dunkerley and Origlieri as a tandem gives us an incredibly solid foundation,” said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch. “Everyone knows what a critical position goaltender is in our sport and to be blessed with two guys who are both number ones in the NLL is going to be a huge strength for us moving forward. We couldn’t be happier to welcome Cam back and to bring Chris on board and they’re both really excited for the season ahead.”
