Shamrocks Ink Goaltender Dunkerley

The Victoria Shamrocks are excited to announce the signing of goaltender, Cam Dunkerley, for the upcoming Western Lacrosse Association season. Dunkerley returns to Victoria on an inter-provincial transfer from the Brampton Excelsiors of Major Series Lacrosse, following a very successful run with the Junior Shamrocks that culminated with him being named the 2019 BCJALL MVP and first team all-star, and leading the Junior Shamrocks to the Minto Cup finals.

Dunkerley is originally from Orangeville, ON, and is currently gaining attention in the National Lacrosse League with the New York Riptide, earning back-to-back wins against Philadelphia in Week 15 and Albany in Week 16, putting up 83 saves across the two games.

“It feels like a natural fit to have Cam join our group as he has played Junior alongside so many guys on our team,” said General Manager Chris Welch. “It also fits where we’re going with our team this year: young, up-and-coming talent. We’re confident that he can recreate some of the success he enjoyed previously in Victoria with the Junior Shamrocks at the Senior A level.”

With the signing of Dunkerley, the Shamrocks have traded goaltender Cam MacLeod to the New Westminster Salmonbellies for future considerations; MacLeod had transferred to the Shamrocks from the Edmonton Miners, but with Dunkerley coming on board, the Shamrocks moved MacLeod in order for him to get an opportunity elsewhere in the WLA.

The Shamrocks will open the 2023 regular season at home against the Langley Thunder on Friday, May 26th at 6:45pm. Single game and season tickets are available from VictoriaShamrocks.com, and the full 2023 WLA Regular Season schedule is available at WLALacrosse.com.
