Shamrocks Saddened By Loss of Long-Time Volunteer

The Victoria Shamrocks are saddened by the loss of long-time volunteer, Lawrie Smith, who passed away Sunday morning after a year-long battle with ALS.

Lawrie started with the Shamrocks as a ticket-taker and security volunteer about 50 years ago, at the age of 19; he moved with us to Archie Browning Sports Centre in Esquimalt, and to 100.3 The Q Centre in Colwood in 2004, where he led the ticket taking and security team.

As well as being a huge fan of lacrosse, he was very active in his community, including being a past president of Victoria Minor Lacrosse, and an enthusiastic volunteer of 26 years with CFAX Santas Anonymous.

We will all miss Lawrie greatly, and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
