Shamrocks Sign Alex Simmons on Transfer from Ontario
The Victoria Shamrocks are pleased to announce the acquisition of Alex Simmons for the upcoming 2025 Western Lacrosse Association season on an interprovincial transfer from the Cobourg Kodiaks of Major Series Lacrosse in Ontario.
Simmons, who will soon celebrate his 26th birthday, is a native of Smithville, Ontario. An offensive right-hander, he is currently the leading scorer for the Albany FireWolves in the National Lacrosse League and is among the league leaders in offensive categories. Last year, he was the NLL Rookie of the Year after putting up the second most points ever by a rookie and finishing 16th overall in league scoring.
When asked for his thoughts on joining the Shamrocks, Simmons said, “I’m really excited to be part of such an historic organization, I’ve only heard great things from current and past players about playing in Victoria. I’m excited to make a run for the Mann Cup.”
“We already have a pretty strong offense and adding Alex puts another weapon in our arsenal,” said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch. “Any time you can add elite talent to your group, you do it and that is exactly what we’ve done.”'
The Shamrocks begin their 75th anniversary season at home on Friday, May 23rd against the Maple Ridge Burrards, face off at 6:45pm at The Q Centre. Season tickets are still available.
