The Shamrocks Are Heating Up!

July 11th, 2018

The Victoria Shamrocks are heating up! With fire in their hearts and a Mann Cup on their minds they are coming into tomorrow night with some serious momentum against the Burnaby Lakers. The ‘Rocks have won their last two games including a massive 7-6 victory over the second place Maple Ridge Burrards at Cam Neely Arena Sunday night. Now the Shamrocks march into Burnaby’s Bill Copeland Arena to fight for first place in the WLA. They're prepared to give everything they've got for no less than a win and two points.

At the front of the charge and on top of the WLA leaderboards is Jesse King. With 65 total points and 42 assists, Jesse continuously proves to create a frustrating dilemma for the opposition. Left unchecked, the assistant captain will sharp shoot from the perimeter or bully his way inside for an airborne finish to collect goals for his team. Lock down on Jesse and he opens up the floor to create scoring opportunities for other serious threats.

The Shamrocks have split their first two games against the Lakers this season. Burnaby has played once already this week as they beat the Coquitlam Adanacs at home on Tuesday night. The leading scorer for the Lakers is the uber-talented Eli McLaughlin. He has the third most goals in the WLA with 26 and has scored 5 or more points in his last 6 games. The last time these two teams met, McLaughlin lit the lamp 4 times and got an assist for the Lakers. Eli sits in third for total goals underneath our very own Casey Jackson by 7 points.

The ‘Rocks are on the road once more taking on the Langley Thunder on Wednesday July 18th before coming back to The Q Centre. On July 20th the Shamrocks face-off against the Maple Ridge Burrards with the intentions of a sweep.
