Victoria Shamrocks (11-4) @ Coquitlam Adanacs (7-9) preview

Saturday, July 30th, 7:00 @ Coquitlam Sports centre

By Janice Huckin - The Shamrocks will face the Coquitlam Adanacs in 2 of their final 3 regular season games, starting Saturday.  A home game against Nanaimo will fill the other spot.

In the previous game between the two teams it was the Shamrocks running away with a 15-5 victory on July 8 at the Q Centre.  The Shamrocks swept the three stars in that game as Rhys Duch (6 goals, 3 assists)  and Cory Conway (7 assists) were named first and third with goaltender Adam Shute, playing against his former team named second star, making 41 saves.

The Shamrocks are still in the hunt for first place and home floor advantage through the playoffs.  Going into last night’s home game against the Lakers, they were 6 points behind the league-leading New Westminster Salmonbellies who have just 1 game remaining while the Shamrocks have 3 including this one.

Rhys Duch, Cory Conway and Corey Small lead Victoria’s attack while they also get outstanding faceoff control from Tyler Burton, Myles Kenny and Josh Fagan.  Adam Shute and Cody Hagedorn have formed a strong tandem between the pipes with Shute getting the bulk of the starts since coming over from Coquitlam.  Both are prepared to jump in when required.

Coquitlam is led offensively by Reid Reinholdt and Ryan Johnson, both with 53 points.  Dan Lewis has carried the bulk of the load between the pipes and has an 8.38 goals against average and a save percentage of 80.4.  Josh Phillips has played just 99 minutes in a back-up role.

The game is available on Pay Per View under the Fan Zone tab or follow on social media.
